It is that time of the year when we begin to plan our 2013 calendars. Mike and I regularly remind one another that all of us who preach and teach are a part of a universal team. We never preach and teach alone. We are honored to serve alongside of you week after week. Now and then, it blesses all of us if we can stop, rest, and enjoy a day or two of someone else’s preaching. And that’s why we’re hoping you’ll consider attending the “Power of the Word” preaching conference at Eastview Christian Church, Normal, IL, March 18-19, 2013.
This is our fifth year to host the conference. We do this primarily because we believe preaching and teaching to be of utmost importance to the church and it is our passion to build up the messengers God has called. Power of the Word is all about building up fellow preachers and teachers. We hope to “stir you up” on multiple levels: by the hearing of sermons where the text wins, by inspiring you through other preachers, by meeting others who do what you do, and by getting a behind-the-scenes look at how each speaker developed their message.
This year, our theme is “The Preacher and Prayer” and we will focus all of our preaching/teaching from Ephesians. We have invited Deveraux Hubbard, Lead Pastor, St. Paul Baptist Church, Peoria, IL, to be our guest preacher. The conference’s topics, all from Ephesians, will include:
Deveraux Hubbard – “The Preacher’s Life and Prayer” (Ephesians 1:15-17)
JK Jones – “The Preacher’s Growth and Prayer” (Ephesians 1:18-23)
Mike Baker – “The Preacher’s Power and Prayer” (Ephesians 3:14-21)
Deveraux Hubbard – “The Preacher’s Warfare and Prayer” (Ephesians 6:18-20)
We continually remind you this is not your typical conference. We’re not selling anything. We’re not pushing an Eastview agenda. The financial cost is very low – twenty bucks. We’re just preachers hanging out with other preachers talking about preaching. We would love for you to be a part of this gathering. Hope to see you there.
