Country Profile
Haiti is located 600 miles off the coast of Florida and shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic. It’s a country full of history, culture, beauty and great hardship. After winning it’s independence from France in 1804, Haiti became the first African Republic in the world and the first country in the Western Hemisphere to abolish slavery. In the last 200 years, Haiti has been plagued by political corruption, greed and oppression. Today, Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with over 75% of the population living under the poverty line and over 50% living in abject poverty.
Our Partnership – Haitian Christian Ministries
Eastview has partnered in Haiti with Haitian Christian Ministries (www.hcmin.org) for 25 years. Under the leadership of Pastor Manno LaGuerre, God has transformed the Pillatre Christian Church and the Pillatre community. Twenty five years ago, the Pillatre church began with 25 people meeting under a mango tree. Today, the church has grown to over 600 people with weekly bible study, prayer and fasting. A second HCM church plant is now growing in the neighboring community of Lory.
The ministry of HCM is driven by the growing Pillatre & Lory church, but it doesn’t end there. HCM has a nationally recognized, self-contained, school and medical clinic. This school has over 750 students from pre-k through high school and the medical clinic sees hundreds of patients each week.
Eastview has been a part of this community transformation since 1985. Over the years, thousands of Eastview members have partnered alongside HCM in this journey. Our work isn’t done though as HCM has plans for future church plants in new locations in Northern Haiti. To learn more about this Global Partner visit www.hcmin.org.

Short Term Mission Trips
Each year Eastview sends 5 or 6 teams to Haiti to work alongside HCM. We offer sports outreach, men’s and women’s conferences, medical trips, construction trips, a women’s child sponsorship and photography trip and a family trip. Welcome Home Haiti
Welcome Home Haiti is a ministry created here at Eastview that supports the work of HCM and exists to provide the poorest families in the Pillatre and Lory Churches with safe and sanitary housing. This is an amazing way that your small group can partner with a Haitian family on a twelve month journey that will change your lives and theirs. Child Sponsorship
You can make a huge difference in the life of a child through the Haitian Christian Ministries child sponsorship program. 100% of your donation goes directly to your child. GO Prayer Team
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with 75% of the population living under the poverty line and over 50% in abject poverty. Many Haitians practice voodoo and/or local witchcraft. There is very real spiritual warfare taking place in Haiti. We need people willing to commit to stand in the gap and pray for HCM, Pastor Manno, the other HCM pastors and the Pillatre and Lory Churches and communities.
